Jon Iwata is responsible for worldwide communications for IBM. His organization manages the company’s communications with the media, industry analysts, employees, and shareholders. In addition, IBM Communications is responsible for corporate brand strategy and design, and the company’s global intranet, which serves 355,000 employees. It coordinates IBM’s corporate affairs initiatives and plays a leading role in instilling IBM values into the company’s practices and culture. Iwata is a member of the IBM Strategy Team, the IBM Performance Team, and the company’s Intellectual Property Policy and Open Standards Advisory Council. He reports to IBM Chairman and CEO Sam Palmisano. Iwata joined the communications function of IBM in 1984 at the company’s Almaden Research Center in Silicon Valley. In 1989, he came to IBM corporate headquarters in Armonk, New York, and held a variety of communications positions, including providing support for the president of the company. Iwata was appointed vice president of corporate communications in 1995 and assumed his current responsibilities as senior vice president of communications, on January 1, 2002. He is a co-inventor of a U.S. patent for advanced semiconductor lithography technology. In 2006, Iwata was elected chairman of The Seminar, a professional group consisting of chief communications officers of major corporations and institutions. He is a trustee of the Arthur W. Page Society. He holds a B.A. from the School of Journalism and Mass Communications, San Jose State University.

As vice president of Sun's Global Communications organization, Karen Kahn is responsible for managing Sun's corporate reputation in support of operational excellence, technology innovation, and market thought leadership. Her responsibilities include executive communications, corporate communications (financials, litigation, mergers and acquisitions, crisis communications, leadership campaigns, etc.), product public relations, and industry analyst relations. Kahn is also responsible for an international media strategy and program rollout for all major geographies including APAC, EMEA, and INTAM. She has been at Sun since 2003. Kahn joined Sun with 15 years of agency, corporate, and journalism experience. She served as a tech practice leader and senior vice president at two of the industry's largest public relations agencies, Fleishman-Hillard and Weber Shandwick, and has directed accounts ranging from Yahoo! to Nortel Networks to MIT to Xerox. She also worked as a writer for Inc. magazine and Frontline on PBS. Kahn has a B.S. from Newhouse School of Public Communication at Syracuse University and an M.B.A. from Boston University. She is on the board of directors for SWIM (Sun Women in Management) and the San Francisco Food Bank.

Bob Sherbin serves as vice president of external communications with responsibility for HP's corporate-level efforts in the areas of media relations, analyst relations, executive messaging and communications, hp.com's editorial content, executive briefing centers, and event marketing. He joined HP in September 2004 as vice president of corporate media relations, a role he continues to hold. Prior to HP, Bob held senior corporate communications positions at Gateway, Merrill Lynch, and HSBC, and served as a financial journalist and foreign correspondent for Dow Jones & Co. Sherbin has worked and studied for more than 20 years outside the United States in Hong Kong, Stockholm, Nairobi, and West Africa. He has a master's degree in journalism from Northwestern University and a bachelor's degree in English from Kalamazoo College.

Jim Trainor serves as Ingram Micro’s senior director of corporate communications. He is responsible for developing and implementing worldwide communication plans, enhancing global media relations, and creating messaging and communication tools for the investor and financial communities. Trainor leads the internal and external communications groups and set strategic messaging for our initiatives, issues, plans, and ventures worldwide. He works closely with our company spokespersons to help deliver consistent messaging to media, customers, and vendor partners throughout the world. With nearly 25 years in the journalism and corporate communication profession, Trainor brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to further strengthen Ingram Micro’s internal and external communication initiatives. Previously, he served as vice president of corporate communications at SIRVA, the parent company of Allied and North America Van Lines, world leaders in relocation and high-value product transportation services. Trainor led SIRVA’s communications efforts during the company’s initial public offering in 2003. Prior to SIRVA, he spent nearly 20 years with Ford Motor Company, where he served in various communications leadership roles for the company, including director of public affairs for the Lincoln Mercury division. Before joining the Lincoln Mercury division, Trainor held a worldwide role as the corporation’s manager of export communications, directing product launches in the Middle East and Latin America while supervising media relations activities throughout the world.

Al Maag joined Avnet as chief communications officer in 1998 and is responsible for brand management, which includes global public relations, investor relations marketing, community relations, and corporate communications. Maag is also a member of Avnet's Executive Board. He was elected a corporate officer in 1999. Prior to joining Avnet, Maag was principal and owner of an international marketing communications and consulting firm in Chicago.
